Windows Creating Folders and Sub Folders

Organizing files in Windows is critical to quick and efficient use of the computer. If you have two or three hundred documents which are all located in your "Documents" folder, that is not efficient. Remember that Windows File Explorer is like a filing cabinet with drawers and folders. You can create your own folders and put them in the drives (drawers) where you can easily find them. In each folder you create you can save specific documents or files. For example, all of your work documents can be in a folder you create called "Work." Or, all of your English documents can be in a folder you create called "English." You might decide to create a folder called "School," and then make sub folders for "Math, English, History, and Social Studies." Sub folders give you an even more efficient method for saving and finding files that you need. Do the following activities to learn how to create folders and sub folders. You can move through the headings on this web page by hitting h, or move backwards through the headings by hitting Shift h. After you get to the heading you want, you can issue the read all command of your screen reader, or down arrow through the steps. There is an audio demonstration link at the end of the activities. When you are finished move to the link at the bottom of this page titled "BACK" to go to the "Simple Windows Lessons" web page.
